UNODC Restorative Justice Book Launch & Discussion
27 Maret 2024
Project type
Location
Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Indonesia in partnership with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham RI) and supported by the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), this event featured expert panel discussions with speakers from Kemenkumham, academics, practitioners, and UNODC representatives to critically assess the conceptual foundations, core principles, and practical challenges of implementing restorative justice programs within Indonesia's criminal justice framework. Simultaneously, it marked the launch of the second edition of the "Buku Pegangan Program Keadilan Restoratif" (Handbook on Restorative Justice Programmes, Indonesian version), adapted from UNODC's 2020 global Criminal Justice Handbook Series, serving as an essential resource for justice practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and civil society to enhance comprehension, ethical deployment, and policy reforms promoting restorative approaches such as victim-offender mediation, community involvement, and offender rehabilitation over traditional punitive measures.
